New Beer Friday, Thanksgiving Week Edition (November 27)

The staff at Siciliano's would like to take the opportunity of this early New Beer Friday to wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving. We'd like to remind you that we are open regular hours today (Wednesday), closed Thursday and back to regular hours for the weekend, starting with Black Friday.

Speaking of Black Friday, this is a reminder that we're having a huge one-day sale on homebrew and winemaking supplies. If you've had your eye on a particular piece of brewing equipment, or are planning to buy the gift of homebrew for a friend or loved one, Friday is the perfect time to stop in.

New and Returning Beer

• Atwater Double Triple, $2.19/16oz - "Detroit-based Atwater Brewery collaborated with the Pistons to create the Triple Double lifestyle ale, a 3.2%-ABV beer that will be sold at all home games and soon in stores across Michigan" (source).

• Big Lake Snow Machine, $3.39/16oz - "An IPA for winter activities, even waiting for summer to return" (source).

• Big Lake Z's Pet Polar Bear, $4.09/16oz - "This New England style IPA is our heaviest hopped beer to date. It has Citra, Mosaic, Eldorado and Idaho Gem Hops in it and is double dry hopped" (source).

• Drafting Table Rezolute IPA, $3.29/16oz - "This is our flagship India Pale Ale and is named after our founder and head brewer, Rez. It’s brewed with a melody of Pacific Northwest hops exhibiting assertive citrus and pine aroma and flavor making it a favorite for any hop head" (source).

• Founders Civilized Brut IPA, $1.79/12oz - "Like a fine Brut Champagne, this IPA is brilliantly bubbly, refreshingly crisp and stunningly clear. Designed for a more sophisticated IPA drinker, Civilized Brut has a clean and restrained bitterness. The clarity and malt sweetness allow the hop notes to tantalize your senses in a bold yet never-overpowering way. Nothing savage about this brute – this IPA is unconventionally sophisticated" (source).

• Freigeist Abraxxxas, $3.29/16oz - "Inspired by the rare and nearly-extinct eastern German tart wheat beer once known as “Lichtenhainer”, Abraxxxas is sour and complex, with a balancing smoky maltiness. As freakily drinkable as it is challenging, this ale was deemed an instant classic upon it’s release in the U.S." (source).

• Freigeist Geisterzug Rhubarb Gose, $3.29/16oz - "Based on Freigeist’s ancient spruced Gose recipe, Geisterzug Quince & Geisterzug Rhubarb feature all the complexity, funkiness, and body of the of the original but go one step further by adding tart & flavorful real fruit & vegetable during fermentation. The resultant brews are incredibly lively, characterful, and thirst-quenching" (source).

• Freigeist Ottekolong, $3.29/16oz - "Rich, hoppy, and complex, Ottekolong (“Eau de Cologne”) Kölsch is a traditional version of the city’s local specialty. Ironically, this peerless quaffing ale, scandalously unfiltered and extra-hopped, is too traditional to be accepted as a “legal” Kölsch. We think it’s the best beer in town, frankly" (source).

• Jolly Pumpkin A Division of Magnitude, $16.29/750ml - No commercial description.

• Short's Juicy Tree, $2.59/12oz - "Juicy Tree is an experimental India Pale Ale made with blue spruce tips, juniper berries, and cranberries. Big aromatics of piney evergreen and sweet berries tingle the senses. After some slightly tart and tangy flavors up front, a harmonious balance between pleasant fruit sweetness and bitter pine is reached. The finish is laced with a resiny stickiness that flows naturally into a lasting bitterness" (source).

• Upland Teddy Bear Kisses, $3.79/12oz - "A dark and robust beer brewed in the traditional stout method and featuring an abundance of dark malts and high alpha hops for a powerful impact of roast, chocolate, and sweet bitterness. The lucky few who cuddle up to Teddy Bear Kisses can sense the velvety malt character, balanced bitter intensity, and soothing chocolate notes created by long aging on fair trade cocoa. Teddy Bear Kisses will make you feel warm and happy inside, but it’s definitely not your childhood cuddle toy. Teddy Bear Kisses won a Gold Medal in the 2010 World Beer Championships" (source).
