This week's list of new and returning products follows a few words about our latest single barrel acquisition
Preamble by Steve Siciliano
We are pleased to announce that we have acquired an entire 53 gallon barrel of single malt Kentucky whiskey from Lexington Brewing and Distilling Company. Town Branch Single Malt Whiskey was aged seven years and was chosen by the Siciliano's staff from samples drawn from four different oak barrels. The whiskey is 99.9 proof and is retailing for $44.19/750ml bottle exclusively at Siciliano's.
The following are Siciliano's liquor buyer John Barecki's tasting notes for this exceptional single malt whiskey: Vanilla cream, honey comb, baking spice, citrus, dried fruit, brown sugar, cereal notes.
Featured Wines of the Week
Ercole, 2020, Barbera Del Monferrato, Italy, $15.59/1 liter- Many folks know the Barbera grape for its bright acidity, and this wine is no exception to the rule. Far less known is the fact that Monferrato’s most prestigious zones are dedicated to Barbera plantings. (The very opposite holds true in the Langhe, where Nebbiolo reigns supreme.) Typically planted to southern exposure, these vineyards yield wines of great depth and balance. (Source)
Ercole, 2020, Bianco Monferrato, Italy, $15.59/1 liter- At their best, wines made from the native grape variety Cortese boast a serious yet pleasing weight, pronounced minerality, and beautiful acidity. In fact, the Cortese-based wines of nearby Gavi are among the most treasured whites of Northern Italy. We have discovered that adding a touch of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc further sharpens and thereby elevates this wine. Fun fact: Cortese was first documented in 1614, when the Castle of Casale Monferrato documented the grape in its ledger. (Source)
Ercole, 2020, Piemonte Rosato, Italy, $15.59/1 liter- With the aromatic draw of fresh-cut watermelon, this rosato screams summertime in all its resplendent fun. Two stalwart grapes of Monferrato, Barbera and Dolcetto, form this lively rosato. Following a soft pressing of the grapes, the juice is left in contact with the skins for only a few hours, lending the wine its light pink hue. Fun fact:Rosato accounts for a miniscule percentage of overall wine production in Piedmont, and 2018 marked the inaugural vintage of this Ercole bottling. (Source)
